Key Working

Key working is central to the success of the behaviour management strategies at LEAP.

All LEAP students are allocated a keyworker during induction, keyworkers are identified and matched carefully to support the individual needs and areas for development.

The key working role involves:

  • Touching base daily with the student to provide support and guidance
  • Setting and reviewing behaviour for learning targets that enable students to modify their behaviour
  • Participating in restorative justice with the student if required
  • Supporting and guiding parents with strategies to strengthen families
  • Supporting and guiding teachers with strategies for learning
  • Outreach support which can include support for mainstream schools with reintegration
  • Participating in multi-agency work in order to best support the needs of the student
  • Liaising with external agencies, such as Childrens' Social Care, YOT, CAMHS, Early Help, etc.
