Testimonials from parents and pupils

From a social worker at Hackney Childrens' Social Care:

'To the LEAP Safeguarding Team: your support at school was incredibly inviting,  your work ethics provided an opportunity for the family to be open and honest. It's fair to say that our education systems outside of LEAP need a lot of work, particularly those families who have experienced multiple trauma, structural racism and educational needs. Your environment provided XXX with care and offered them a different experience of the education system. I wanted to thank you for all your effort and hard work. When we say 'It takes a village to raise a child', this is an example of how it happens. This is a great piece of systemic work.'

Feedback for Indivual Tuition Tutor

'You have been an outstanding source of support for Musa, in terms of teaching, learning and wellbeing.  You have given him a whole year of patience and kindness.  Without your support his progress wouldn't have been possible.  You are an outstanding tutor and human being'.

Morning Andrew,

I hope you are well.

I just wanted to drop a quick email and say a huge thank you to you for assisting and an even bigger thank you to Jo. Jo has been amazing with Saima not just with the lessons but her confidence and ability has grown massively. Saima has benefitted from your services a lot. One cannot be more grateful.

I also wanted to check how long her sessions would last, is there an end date?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Jesmin

Dear Astrid and Afrooz

I just wanted to send you a huge thank you for sharing your time, your expertise and your wonderful school with us yesterday. As Trustees of The Difference it is critically important that we understand Alternative provision  and in particular what  "outstanding " alternative provision looks like. That's what you gave us an insight into yesterday- and coming before a Board meeting helped a richer and deeper conversation with the exec. I am particularly aware that there was a large group of us on a day when you were stretched staffing wise which makes me even more grateful. You present a wonderful partnership and as Trustees we really appreciate it.

Kind regards

Christine (The Difference)

Dear Lucy

I am Father of XXX writing regarding of my son's progress of his behaviour and study which has significantly improved after attending your school. Now he is a very changed boy and always admits he was on the wrong track.

He understood friends can't always be good sometimes friends can make things worse. XXX has promised he'll never be the same person again, he learned how to handle the situation and not to put himself into the same situation again.

I'm personally thanking you and your staff because all credit goes to your team as you have helped XXX change massively in his behaviour and choices. I'll always be appreciating your help that got XXX back on the right track.

Best Regards
XXX

Hello Fateha,

I hope you are doing good as well as everyone else. XXX is settling well in her new school. She hasn't met most of her classmates yet, but she's made a few friends and will be starting proper lessons after the Easter holidays.
Thank you for your time and effort you've made with her. She has gained lots of confidence and has learnt a lot from being at LEAP. She mentioned that she loved all of her teachers and believes that was a big factor as to why she was happier in classes.
She enjoyed going to school although it wasn't a conventional school, it still made her feel like she wasn't judged. The teachers were wonderful and didn't make her feel uncomfortable because of the reason she was there as well. She was happy that you were her key worker, you helped her a lot with her anxiety and let her know that you were available to chat at lunchtimes. Thank you for keeping me informed with her and she enjoyed her time at LEAP.

To whom it may concern,

This email is written for the purpose of providing feedback on Parental Engagement by Shahina on behalf of LEAP.

I can confirm that Shahina got in touch with me and my wife before XXX was transferred to Third Base.

Shahina has always been accessible and approachable via phone calls and emails and has always given swift answers to any queries.

Shahina also spoke with XXX many times when it was requested to calm XXX. She also ensured XXX's medical  issues were well understood and took notes and advise from us.
We are eternally grateful to Shahina for arranging a laptop for XXX and she kept us updated throughout the process.

Shahina was the go to person when dealing with any issues  and she always appeared to willing to help. We never felt rushed or hint of any annoyance.

Shahina also mentioned that she will introduce XXX to a member of staff who is  diabetic so that XXX can be re-assured and feel comfortable in her new school.

I’m my humble opinion, the introduction of a diabetic member of staff has been huge in XXX's ability to stay calm and understood.

The biggest compliment I can give is that XXX became to like LEAP and looked forward to attending school.

Last Wednesday XXX visited XXX School for induction. Upon completion she asked to be dropped back to LEAP for 2 hours despite she was not required to.

We are enormously grateful to all at LEAP, especially to Shahina for her calm and patience.

My heartfelt gratitude to Shahina for her brilliant and calming approach and to all those who made XXX feel valued and special.

You’ll be missed and never forgotten.

Subject: Zombies Unleashed - Attention Tim

Dear Tim,

I cannot complement you, Vardar and your team highly enough over the unmitigated  success of "Zombies Unleashed", it far exceeded any expectations that I had. I know that my grandson, LS, thoroughly enjoyed his involvement and I am sure that is true of all of those that took part. The kids that you help should look at this film and recognise exactly what they are capable of and be very proud of what they have collectively achieved and once they realise what they can achieve it will hopefully motivate them for the future, the only limitations they have to future success is in their own minds, what they have achieved with this film should completely dispel any doubts they might have about their capabilities.

Whilst writing I will take the opportunity to thank you for the work you did with LS, the change in his attitude to education is amazing, as demonstrated by his asking me what qualifications he would need to study law with a view to training as a solicitor! I'm sure he will still have his moments but to date the only communication we have had from his school is one commending him on a reading he made at assembly! What a difference to the regular meetings we attended at his secondary school! The change in LS I attribute entirely to the time he spent at LEAP and the thoroughly professional team there, dedicated to helping kids that have slipped off the rails, thank you.

Yours truly,

SS

Hello Astrid,

I hope that you and everyone at LEAP are well.

It is not possible for me to convey in words the sincerest gratitude I would like to express to you and your team for helping my daughter, and I, so much this year.

The improvement in A's grades and emotional wellbeing are an reflection of all the behind-the-scenes, hard work, professionalism and commitment given to support her by you and your expert team.

LEAP is the only school in the world that could have achieved such a dramatic result. There is simply no way this miraculous turnaround could have happened in an expensive boarding school or anywhere else. LEAP is a unique, specialist school staffed by highly-trained experts and led by a fantastic headteacher. A played her part too. Her family and everyone else are extremely proud of her. She is walking on air at the moment. Annie says that she is now desperate to leave London, to be with me and to get on with her life. We are exploring options.

Hopefully she can come to S soon. She wants to enrol for A levels online. She can study with me and others here. We are fortunate in that the compound where I live is packed full of teachers and lecturers in a range of subjects.  We can easily arrange private tutoring. In addition to the academic and emotional progress, A has also developed good, independent learning skills this year.

A is the international youth ambassador for literacy and she has applied to become a youth ambassador for the International Literacy Association. Hopefully A can use her inspirational story to cascade what she has learned at LEAP to other young girls and inspire them to study, develop literacy skills and increase their life opportunities, if she wants. At least we will have the opportunity to spend time together and do lots of travel and other interesting things.  You will be kept updated on As progress.

It surely has been an extremely unique and surreal last twelve months. However, thanks to LEAP, as Shakespeare said: 'All's well that ends well'. A now has a strong foundation to build upon.

Please pass on my gratitude to your team for such an incredible, well done, job.

Good luck in your new headteacher role too.

You have already achieved a fantastic success with A. Long may your successes continue. I am sure they will.

Yours,

DM
